Aquasphere Surveyors Inc. provides the services of single beam, multibeam, underwater imaging and ROV surveys. Our single beam equipment comprises of a Kongsberg 1007 altimeter and Kongsberg 1071 scanning sonar with pitch, roll and heading sensor incorporated into the 1071. The physical dimensions of the 1007 are ideal for shallow water surveys such as rivers and estuaries even though maximum depth range is 100 meters. The 1071 scanning sonar has a much wider application role and can be implemented as a single beam echo sounder to a depth of 100 meters or as a scanning imager. In the latter role it can be mounted in a cage or on a tripod to give high resolution imagery of a wall face or of bottom topography. Mosaic images can be created to provide large area coverage. In conjunction with this capability the 1071 system can be utilized to provide profiling data simultaneously with imaging data. An application in this configuration would provide critical data of the depth and size of a hole from scouring or undercutting etc.
We also have the ability to utilize sidescan sonar if large sea, lake or river bottom areas are to be covered. Our sidescan equipment, Imagenex Sportscan and YellowFin can be mounted as a fixed hull mount for applications such as looking under log jams in river systems or in fast flowing water where bridge construction and de-construction for bottom target allocation are required etc. For deeper applications in a towfish configuration we use a Klein 3900 which has 150 meters of towing cable for search and recovery operations. We can mosaic all our sidescan data in post processing with Chesapeake Technologies Sonar Web Pro software for an elegant presentation using HTML and JPEG formats which can be opened in any web browser for ease of use or for a clients own intranet distribution.
Our multibeam surveyor is a certified Kongsberg EM3002 operator and is also experienced in using the EM710 for deeper operations down to 1500 meters. The EM3002 equipment used in single mode has 254 beams which in certain applications can be mounted with a 40 degree offset to profile vertical walls or to get into the shallower inaccessible waters bringing the outside beams near to the surface. The depth range for the EM3002 is 100 meters and automatically changes swath coverage as bottom depth changes. This system meets IHO requirements and is implemented in the Canadian Hydrographic Service to provide accurate chart data, this is the most accurate and repeatable system available.
Our land/marine based LIDAR allows us to provide our clients with accurate 3D point cloud imagery (37000 data points / second) surface maps, contouring, volume asset management etc. The system is completely self contained carrying built in RTK GPS receiver and an internal navigation unit allowing rapid mobing and demobing. The system can be mounted on a vessel, ATV or truck making it a versitile unit for many applications. Data aquasition of large areas is quicker and cheaper since what would normally take many days with a standard crew of two men and single point logging can now take hours with only one person gathering many more data points. Post processing for 3D imagery and XYZ data is provided with the system and in most cases be completed on site.
